Job Description

The organization's risk management structure is designed to promote effective governance and risk management that is systematic, transparent, credible, timely, and verifiable through clear delineation and execution of key roles and responsibilities. Its goal is to assess and/or manage risks that may impact the company, including credit, financial, liquidity, market, operational, reputational, strategic, and other risks as appropriate.

The Business Risk Professional will partner with their assigned Line of Business, other Business Risk Professionals, and Business Risk Managers to, depending on their function, create, implement, maintain, review or oversee an effective risk management framework. May participate in projects and/or activities that ensure compliance with applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations. May identify gaps and inform solutions that minimize losses resulting from inadequate internal processes, systems or human errors. May actively identify, respond and/or escalate risks as appropriate. May inform policies and procedures in an effort to maximize profit potential and minimize regulatory exposure. May serve as a functional liaison between the Line of Business and the Lines of Defense.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Conducting quality assurance (QA) and quality control (QC) testing related to operational processing, in order to ensure regulatory compliance and identify opportunities to enhance performance.

  • Performing periodic reviews to assess level of regulatory compliance and support audits, exams and reviews being conducted in GDS.

  • Engage in the resolution of issues through monitoring milestone progress and sustainability testing, including regulatory, audit, Compliance Quality Assurance and Business Line Self ID.

  • Ensuring assigned locations, business units, or proposed products and processes are in compliance with various laws and regulations.

  • Develop and enforce compliance policies and procedures.

  • Act as a primary compliance consultant/resource for GDS with respect to questions, consulting, and training.

  • Participate in and ensure compliance in the design and development of policies, procedures, processes and training programs.

  • Determine how new and pending laws/regulations impact the affected business line and works to ensure appropriate compliance.

  • Collects and organizes data in order to track, monitor and report on the effectiveness of key controls.

  • Foster a culture of risk management through sharing of risk/compliance knowledge.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree, or equivalent work experience

  • Three to five years of applicable experience

  • Applicable professional certifications

Preferred Skills/Experience

  • Four to six years of experience in regulatory compliance activities

  • Advanced knowledge of government and regulatory laws and regulations

  • An understanding of sanctions screening technology

  • Thorough knowledge of GDS operations, policies and procedures (internal posting only

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to research and manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously

  • Strong presentation skills, comfortable in raising an opposing perspective

  • Skilled in interacting with various business partners and levels of management

  • Strong PC skills to include MS Office products

  • Highly organized, detailed oriented and able to prioritize work
