Job Description
U.S. Bank currently has an opportunity for an experienced credit banking professional to join our Commercial Banking team.
As a Portfolio Manager, you will partner with assigned Relationship Managers to successfully manage Commercial Banking credit account relationships with middle market companies. You will support revenue growth and the business development strategy as directed by senior management. The Commercial Banking team generally covers companies with over $25MM in annual revenues up to $1Billion in annual revenues and provides all related banking products and services in partnership with other groups in the Bank. Your high touch customer service excellence will be key to successfully closing new business relationships as well as retaining and expanding relationships with existing customers.
While we do provide some of the job training, the ideal candidate should have familiarity with Commercial Banking underwriting including financial statement spreading and analysis, assigning risk ratings, testing financial covenants, completing annual reviews, and reviewing legal documentation.
Responsibilities will include:
underwrite all types of credit account exposure
manage an assigned credit portfolio, successfully closing new business relationships and expanding existing relationships
manage credit risk and responding to prospect or customer credit questions and making independent calls on assigned portfolio of relationships
provide mentoring / training to peers
participate in joint sales calls with Relationship Managers to identify and address customer needs.
This position will work from our San Francisco or Sacramento office locations and offers a hybrid work arrangement. Team members who are in a hybrid role typically spend three days a week at a U.S. Bank location, while having flexibility on their work location for the other working days.
Occasional travel will be necessary for client meetings and bank events, but typically is limited to the local market area.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree, or equivalent work experience
Seven to 10 years of commercial banking experience
Preferred Skills/Experience:
Commercial banking credit underwriting that includes experience in revolving lines of credit, term loans, real estate and syndicated financing
Extensive knowledge of commercial lending policy, all applicable laws and regulations, credit quality standards, company and business line policies and procedures
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to work effectively with individuals and groups across the company to manage customer relationships
Well-developed written communication and verbal presentation skills
Detail-oriented
Ability to multi-task and prioritize, and work efficiently to meet deadlines

The salary range reflects figures based on the primary location, which is listed first. The actual range for the role may differ based on the location of the role. In addition to salary, US Bank offers a comprehensive benefits package, including incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase 401k contribution and pension (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). Pay Range: $117,215.00 - $137,900.00 - $151,690.00
