Job Description

The Mainframe Network Systems Engineer is responsible for the analysis, development, modification, installation, testing, and maintenance of operating systems software. Supports network protocols for the mainframe. Candidate would share responsibility for the analysis, development, modification, installation, testing, and maintenance of mainframe z/OS software. You must possess a strong understanding of z/OS systems programming (3-5 plus years), Evaluate vendor supplied software and make recommendations to IT leadership. Installs, modifies, documents and diagnosis vendor supplied software.

Basic Qualifications

  • Minimal 3 -5 years’ experience configuring and troubleshooting zSeries Communication Services VTAM , TCPIP , TN3270 .

  • 3 – 5 years of TPX administrator experience.

  • 3 - 5 years of experience serving in a mainframe tech support role, preferably as a mainframe network tech support person.

  • Experience with network monitoring and troubleshooting mainframe network problems using multiple communications protocols.

  • Good verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred Skills/Experience:

  • Familiarity with Connect:Direct

  • TPX administrator experience.

  • Experience with FTP-ATTLS (FTP using application transparent TLS)

  • Experience using SMPE to install software products.

  • Data networks

  • Hardware Infrastructure

  • System software infrastructure

  • IT standards, procedures, policy

  • Configuration management

Subject Matter Expert in the following areas:

  • Network operations

  • Contingency and disaster recovery

  • Product and vendor evaluation

  • Network architecture

  • Technical troubleshooting

  • IT environment
