Job Description

This position develops, manages and executes New Markets and Historic Tax Credit origination strategy to support financial and strategic priorities of U.S. Bank. The position will oversee the marketing, acquisition and initial structuring of equity investments which will finance the funding, construction and rehabilitation of eligible businesses and historic properties across the country. This position will work closely with syndications and finance in coordinating and executing origination and syndication goals. This involves strategy related to pricing, financing structures, and relationship determinations.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree, or equivalent work experience

  • 12 or more years of banking experience (tax credit industry preferred)

Preferred Skills/Experience

  • In-depth knowledge of, and ability to communicate effectively on, the relevant Tax Credit Program, commercial real estate finance, tax and accounting concepts, or partnership law

  • Strong relationship management, business development and sales skills

  • Demonstrated ability to motivate others to achieve client and bank goals

  • Ability to simplify complex projects by focusing on key issues, activities and goals and identifying and acting upon a critical path

  • Ability to identify obstacles, manage expectations internally at U.S. Bank and externally with clients, and to effectively create solutions to problems which arise

  • Well-developed analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills

  • Demonstrated ability to speak publicly as an expert in the field of tax credit investing

  • Master’s degree finance or accounting

  • Three or more years of management experience

Essential Functions:

  • Oversee and ensure quality, risk-mitigated financing opportunities which will meet or exceed tax credit delivery, loan origination, and revenue objectives

  • Supervise the primary relationship managers covering NMTC and HTC customers

  • Support decisions on project selection based on analysis and review of sponsor-produced investment proposals and models

  • Manage legal counsel relationships and other third-party experts in the exploration of critical transaction issues

  • Manage the day-to-day business line relationship with credit risk management related to term sheets for tax equity opportunities

  • Ensure consistent delivery of tax equity term sheets which detail, among other things, pricing proposals, structuring considerations, conditions to funding, and the allocation of transaction risks

  • Supports syndications / capital markets efforts to maximize sale-side opportunities within secondary tax equity and debt markets

  • Oversee business development team in transitioning of originated investments to other internal teams

  • Demonstrates fluency in credit policy and best business practices

  • Serves as an external subject matter expert, often representing U.S. Bank in speaking roles and educational seminars

  • Support industry advocacy and technical improvement efforts

  • Participates in special projects as required

The salary range reflects figures based on the primary location, which is listed first. The actual range for the role may differ based on the location of the role. In addition to salary, US Bank offers a comprehensive benefits package, including incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase 401k contribution and pension (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). Pay Range: $154,955.00 - $182,300.00 - $200,530.00
