Responsible for managing the collection activities for the Retail Payment Solutions Collections and Recovery Legal department. Specifically:
The review and collection of all past dueaccounts to achieve target delinquency goals with the lowest possible lossratios and minimal risks.
Ensuring optimal performance andensuring the work is completed accurately and complies with ourpolicies and procedures.
Serving as a liaison between thelegal/attorney vendors and the company.
Collecting data, preparing reports, andcompleting audits of attorney vendor and staff work.
Ensuring compliance with applicableinternal policies and procedures and regulatory requirements.
Supervisory functions include leading and directing astaff of paralegals and account processors, evaluating employeeperformance and making salary recommendations, performing all aspects ofthe staffing process including recruiting, interviewing, and hiring staffto ensure appropriate hiring practices and maintain staffing levels, stafftraining, and providing work direction.
Manages the offensive litigation qualification and placement process within the organization as assigned; such as bank card, consumer loans, direct or indirect loan portfolios, loss recovery, commercial accounts, etc. This includes the review, analysis and decision making of a selected group of delinquent or charged off accounts to ensure all proper account treatment of established parameters are met in order to achieve targeted delinquency goals with lowest possible loss ratios or recoveries and minimal risks. Manages to the timelines set within the department to ensure all forecast targets are met and will be able to make adjustments to work assignments to ensure all targets are met. Ensures compliance with applicable internal policies and procedures and regulatory requirements.
Responsibility of managing 10-15 Recovery Litigation Paralegals and their performance to ensure adherence to departmental goals. This candidate will be responsible for managing the day to day process assignments, support and training for each team member and ensuring accountability for adherence to all legal, compliance and audit requirements. Responsible for all HR related activities for each team member and will work with Ops Mgr., as needed, to ensure adherence to all requirements. Leadership, ability to communicate in distinct and clear fashion and providing support to the team is key to the success of the group. Expectation is for this candidate to work well with others, provide support to their management team and strive to work a common goal within the team.
Bachelor's degree, or equivalent work experience
Five to eight years of experience in collections and financial services industry
Two or more years of management/supervisory experience
Thorough knowledge of loan collection techniques, policies, procedures, and principles of credit lending
Strong understanding of collection laws and regulations
Thorough knowledge of consumer, residential, commercial and/or dealer originated installment lending as applicable
Basic knowledge of on-line collection systems
Thorough knowledge of general organizational operations and procedures
Strong planning and organizational skills
Good managerial skills
Ability to resolve moderate problems with minimal guidance
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
