Job Description

As a member of the USB Technology and Operations Finance Team (“TOS Finance”), you will lead the team responsible for development and adoption of the evolving suite of IT Economic offerings developed to deliver cost of ownership transparency. Across the portfolio, you will help to ensure that U.S. Bank delivers best-in-class “One U.S. Bank” views of application operating costs to internal business and technology customers. You will carry responsibility for the strategy, full life cycle management of current and future product releases, for all of our customer types and for our employees.

As the Cloud Economics Lead for the portfolio, you will partner with business line, finance, operations, user experience, and technical counterparts to create cost transparency experiences that meet core business objectives. The broader product portfolio currently supports a cost of ownership offering and cloud consumption/cost show-back model. These two offerings represent our initial capabilities designed to create cost transparency to our business and technology customers, while ensuring accountability to operating budgets and forecasts for the operations of business application.

This role will be responsible for the economic interpretation, business case development, and value extraction achieved through the partnership between our portfolio offerings and business line opportunities. This role will be responsible for the economic value interpretation of cloud spend and consumption patterns, balanced against on-premises patterns, aligned to cloud business models, incentives, and partnership opportunities. In this role, you will form strategic business and technology partnerships across the bank, inform the portfolio product suite product roadmap with market research, benchmarking, and relevant technology trends. You will identify, prioritize, champion, and monitor initiatives spawning from or related to cost optimization opportunities identified through the offerings

Key activities:

  • Senior IT and finance savvy leader to help drive strategic and tactical decisions around Data Center/Cloud application placement strategies

  • Work with senior IT leaders to evaluate architectural and associated economic implications of application operations

  • Work with senior business leaders to understand cost of IT operations balanced against business metrics

  • Work with senior business and IT leaders to inform and influence application placement and investment decisions based on ownership costs

  • Work with Risk teams to incorporate cloud/on-prem economics into the context of application risk profile

  • Guide cost of ownership models and visualizations to incorporate modeling and business context for cloud/on-prem analysis

  • Bring cost of ownership and strategic value to senior IT and business leaders as part of broader working committees focused on cost and technology asset strategies

Portfolio Responsibilities:

  • Identify cost optimization opportunities across TOS applications and infrastructure capabilities

  • Develop and build prioritization business cases around initiatives to identify pursuit opportunities

  • Collaborate and partner with TOS application and infrastructure owners to prioritize and execute optimization initiatives

  • Establish a working backlog of opportunities for pursuit

  • Managing ongoing measurement and reporting of these commitments

  • Consistently delivering work that meets or exceeds commitments

  • Demonstrate thought leadership by integrating analytics, business model, and design thinking to drive innovative new experiences for customers that have a positive impact on business results

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree, or equivalent work experience

  • Master's degree, or equivalent work experience (preferred)

  • Ten or more years of product management experience

  • Six or more years of managerial experience

Preferred Skills/Experience:

  • Strong product management, design and development skills

  • Excellent management, leadership and interpersonal skills

  • Strong organizational and analytical skills

  • Strong change management skills focus on leading transformational change

  • Experience in, or exposure to, application development, design, and release capabilities, UX constructs, and technology

  • Exposure to or direct experience with enterprise IT environments and software development

  • Marketing and market research skills and experience

  • Well-developed verbal and written communication skills
