Job DescriptionThis is an incredible opportunity for an early career behavioral scientist to join a new and growing behavioral science team. We’re driving innovation across US Bank as we strive to help our 18 million customers achieve meaningful outcomes in their lives.
We are looking for a well-trained behavioral/social scientist (social psychologist, cognitive scientist, behavioral economist, etc.) who understands the fundamental mechanics of human behavior, but who also wants to solve real-world problems. As a Behavioral Scientist you will answer questions related to goal-pursuit, self-regulation, habit formation, and social accountability in the realm of financial wellness. You will carry out basic research (surveys & experiments) in collaboration with team members and/or academic partners. You will also translate behavioral science concepts and research findings into bite-sized recommendations for product and experience design. You will also support the ongoing development of the behavioral design, behavioral coaching, and behavioral data science disciplines across the organization.
This role will require wearing many hats -- you will thrive with creativity, flexibility, and adaptability.
Specifically, you will:
Lead behavioral research aimed at understanding the basic psychological mechanisms related to financial decision-making with the goal of improving financial wellness across customer segments and life stages. Design & test interventions (delivered across human & digital channels) aimed at helping customers achieve their goals Support work aimed at developing and implementing the disciplines of behavioral coaching, behavioral design, and behavioral data science across the organization. Create excitement and energy around the topic of behavioral science. Partner and collaborate with leading behavioral science experts in academic institutions
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS PhD in Social Psychology or related field (cognitive psychology, behavioral economics, judgment & decision-making, consumer psychology, marketing, etc.) or equivalent years of experience.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Professional research experience Fluency in R and basic statistics (Regression, HLM, factor analysis, data cleaning, etc.) Research design (survey design, experimental design) Natural storyteller with the ability to distill key insights and take-aways from complex data Ability to strike the right balance between precision and practicality Intellectual curiosity & collaborative nature Desire to innovate and build new solutions for old problems Passion for bringing basic academic theory to the real world through digital product design and human-to-human coaching Master's degree preferred
