Job Description

This position will be responsible for the development of the self-service BI platform to serve organization-wide business analytics and data needs. This role will participate in the design and development of analytics data warehouse, build data integrations to consolidate enterprise data from different data sources, and create reusable data services for internal and external data consumers. Ideal candidate is a self-motivated individual who can collaborate with a team and across the organization. The candidate will be adept with the agile software development lifecycle and DevOps principles.


Essential Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for designing, developing, testing, operating and maintaining data warehouse, including schema and table design, metadata management, data ETL, and make recommendations to optimize performance

  • Work closely with multiple engineering and product teams to drive neat and long term initiatives to improve organizational wide analytics and customer experience.

  • Lead migrations from Postgres to next-gen enterprise data warehouse solution facilitating analysis and machine learning

  • Design, develop, and support new and current ETL processes employing industry standards and best practices to enhance loading of data from and into different source/ target systems

  • Consistently writing production-ready code that is easily testable, easily understood by other developers, and account for edge cases and errors.

  • Design framework for reusable data services to provide developers and data analysts with simple programmatic tools to find and extract the data they need with little effort

  • Consistently creates optimal design adhering to architectural best practices; considers scalability, reliability and performance of systems/contexts affected when defining technical designs.

  • Takes feedback from code review and apply changes to meet standards. Conducts code reviews to provide guidance on engineering best practices and compliance with development procedures

  • Serve as a mentor to coach and support junior engineers to continue to raise the engineering bar across the organization

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree, or equivalent work experience

  • Five to six years of relevant experience

Preferred Skills/Experience

  • Strong programming skills in SQL, Python or Java

  • Proficient understanding of algorithms, data structures, architectural design patterns and best practices

  • Familiarity with Google BigQuery data warehouse technologies

  • Experience designing and developing data processing and ETL frameworks and tools, such as Kafka Streaming, Spark, MySQL, Postgres

  • Experience with web services and REST API integration

  • Familiarity with one of the core cloud provider services, preferably having both AWS and Google Cloud experience

  • Experience with data analysis and visualization tools such as Tableau, Presto and Superset

  • Knowledge with modern Server architecture, such as Spring Boot, Spring

  • Excellent communication, presentation, leadership, problem-solving and analytical skills

  • Proven collaboration and influencing skills

  • more than 5 years of experience working as a data engineer
