Job Description The Investment Portfolio Manager resides within U.S. Bank’s Corporate Treasury division and is responsible for the management and trade execution of USB’s investment portfolio. This position works with a team of investment portfolio professionals who are responsible for portfolio strategic asset allocation, security selection, prepayment modeling, and trade execution. The position will develop and maintain trade strategy ideas within asset classes, network with other market professionals, create presentations for financial analysis related to forecasting and strategies, and generate alpha through relative value asset allocation and security selection analysis. Duties include: Develops, interprets, implements complex financial concepts, analysis and reporting projects for alpha generation within the investment portfolio.

Performs fundamental and technical analysis to determine present and future financial performance.

Prepares and summarizes recommendations for financial plans, acquisition activity, trade recommendations and operating forecasts.

Provides technical direction and guidance to project team in resolving analytical questions.

Monitors and recommends improvements to department’s operational effectiveness.

Analyzes and performs economic research and studies in the areas of rates of return, depreciations, working capital requirements, investment opportunities, investment performance and impact of governmental requirements.

Drives discussions on complex issues and alternative investment ideas where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors.

Recommends and conducts trade ideas within best execution construct.

Basic Qualifications Bachelor's degree, or equivalent work experience

10 or more years of related experience (capital markets and/or fixed income preferred)

Preferred Skills/Experience Well-developed quantitative, analytical, and financial skills with a strong interest in portfolio management, trading, and interest rate risk management

In-depth knowledge of financial analysis techniques, economic theory, and general accounting procedures

In-depth knowledge of fixed income mathematics, portfolio theory, analytical models, forecasting, and planning

Ability to identify and resolve exceptions and analyze present data

Effective verbal and written communication skills

Preferred background in bank portfolio investment asset classes, including government bonds, interest rate swaps, agency MBS, municipal bonds, ABS, agency and non-agency CMBS, corporate bonds, CLOs, and bank-owned life insurance

CFA charter holder or MBA desirable
