U.S. Bank UXDesign Thinking Engagement Lead - Multiple Locations in MINNEAPOLIS, Minnesota

U.S. Bank is looking for a senior design thinker to join our growing UX Design team. As an internal consultant and partner, the Design Thinking Engagement Lead will work closely with product, design and technology to envision world-class banking experiences. With a broad perspective on what it means to be a designer, we’re looking for someone with a deep understanding of human-centered design and experience working with large design teams to employ modern, creative problem-solving techniques to create digital experiences.

We’re looking for a facilitative leader and expert in Design Thinking who is passionate about creating the best possible experience for our customers, getting ALL ideas out on the table, and educating partners about Design Thinking along the way. A “curator of ideas”, this person will play a key role in partnering with product and design leaders to evolve existing experiences and solve new problems through Design Thinking.

Example engagements include: Design Sprints, structured brainstorming sessions, alignment workshops with senior leaders, kicking off new teams with problem definition sessions and the like.

Responsibilities include:

  • Lead the planning, organization, and facilitation of in-person and remote design thinking engagements such as Design Sprints, workshops, brainstorming sessions, etc.Including big picture engagement scoping and activity selection/instruction.

  • Influence product design strategy through creative problem-solving techniques, relationship building, and expert facilitation/communication.

  • Lead and plan multiple engagements at once.

  • Partner with and mentor members of the design thinking team, UXDesign team, and organization at large.

  • Collaborate with partners to create internal design thinking resources (with the goal of creating an open-source toolkit for novices and practitioners alike).

  • Digital Ambassadorship: Advocate for the user, be a steward of modern, creative problem-solving techniques and digital best practices, and deliver internal talks to evangelize Design Thinking.

  • Singularly accountable for project/engagement/initiative outcomes.

Qualifications:

BasicQualifications

  • Bachelor'sdegree (preferred emphasis on Service Design, Experience Architecture orInformation Architecture), or equivalentexperience

  • Fiveto eight years of related work experience, such as UX or digital industry, withat least one year of team leadership experience

Preferred Skills/Experience

  • Expert atdefining problems, scoping engagements, and developing a design strategy

  • Expert storyteller communicator with strongpresentation design delivery skills

  • Expertfacilitator: Ability to command a room of practitioners and executives, guideconversations, know when and how to intervene to keep the conversation ontrack, how to plan an effective agenda including activity selection and how toadjust those activities on the fly to meet the ultimate goal of the session.

  • Deep knowledgeof and experience with remote collaboration toolsmodern communication methods to enhance creativeproblem- solving (e.g. Mural, video conferencing, MicrosoftTeams, etc.)

  • Expertat influencing andpartnering to develop product and design strategies.

  • Highlyadaptable, expert at managingexpectations inspiring teams to deliverbest-in-class experiences.

  • Strategicsystems thinker. Deep understanding of how effortsconnect to each other and the organization at-large.

  • Ability toramp-up quickly. Highly teachable, deeply curious, humble with a high emotionalintelligence (ability to read people and a room).

  • Thoroughknowledge of user experience (UX) best practices, interactive designprinciples, information architecture and experience architecture; ServiceDesign knowledge a plus.

  • Thoroughknowledge of design thinking process and framework, and familiarization withworkshop and co-creation methodologies and techniques

  • Thoroughknowledge of website architecture, interactive design principles, webusability, and online marketing and business needs

  • Experience withhuman-centered design from concept to delivery

  • Familiar withcommon design software

  • Experienceworking in a cross-channel environment, including desktop/laptop, mobile,devices and brick-and-mortar locations; internal facing systems experience aplus

  • Ability toproblem-solve and work independently

If you are located outside of Minneapolis, there is a 25% travel requirement, once it is safe to travel again
