The U.S. Bank Law Division is seeking an attorney to join its Consumer and Business Banking team to provide legal support related to the origination and ongoing servicing of the Bank’s unsecured and non-real estate secured consumer and small business product offerings, including Personal Loan, Personal Line of Credit, Reserve Line of Credit, Simple Loan, Quick Loan, and Cash Flow Manager Line of Credit.

General Responsibilities:

• Assist business line partners in the development and ongoing review of credit product offerings, including the review of applicable federal and state laws and regulations; and

• Advise business line partners on matters relating to customer correspondence.

Basic Qualifications

  • Law degree

  • Licensed by and in good standing with the appropriate state bar association or other appropriate state attorney licensing authority

Preferred Skills:

• At least 5 years of relevant work experience, either in private practice or as a member of an in-house legal department;

• Working knowledge of federal laws and regulations applicable to unsecured and personal-property-secured consumer lending, including the Truth in Lending Act, the Equal Credit Opportunity Act, the Fair Credit Reporting Act, the Military Lending Act, and the Servicemembers Civil Relief Act;

• Familiarity with federal laws and regulations applicable to small business lending, including loans made under Section 7(a) of the Small Business Act, specifically Express loans and Paycheck Protection Program loans;

• Ability to work with minimal supervision and exercise independent judgment and discretion;

• Ability to analyze legal risks based on federal and state laws and regulations while considering implementation of best practices;

• A strong commitment to client service;

• Strong oral and written communication skills;

• Ability to effectively interact with business lines and other support groups in person and remotely;

• Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment and to ensure completion of business deadlines;
