The Balance Sheet Risk Management team works closely with U.S. Bancorp Corporate Treasury covering asset liability management, capital, liquidity, resolution planning, investment portfolio management, and funding. The Balance Sheet Risk Management team provides review and challenge, monitoring for limit breaches, partnering with Corporate Treasury for recommendation on enhancing the framework. Daily the team covers Liquidity and Interest Rate Risk and Capital for the company.

THE ROLE:

Due to growth, the Senior Manager, Balance Sheet Risk Governance is a newly created role that will provide you with an opportunity to make an impact while influencing cross-functional teams throughout U.S. Bank. You’ll be partnering with Senior Leaders in Finance, Risk Management and Compliance and Audit to help oversee the successful creation, implementation, and maintenance of an effective risk management framework. This individual is responsible for improving the design and implementation of the governance and control framework for balance sheet risks. Additionally, they are accountable for the active identification, response and/or escalation of risks as appropriate. This leader influences policies and procedures to improve balance sheet controls and regulatory compliance and are responsible for an effective partnership between the Line of Business and the Lines of Defense.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Establish best-in-class governance and controls in Balance Sheet Risk Management (BSRM) for the group’s Treasury oversight activities.

  • Design and implement advanced processes supporting sound risk management principles, regulatory compliance, and range of practice for liquidity, interest rate risk and capital risk management.

  • Create a sustainable structure for review and challenge and independent analysis for balance sheet risk management.

  • Partner with Balance Sheet Risk and Treasury teammates to generate and oversee control structures.

  • Interface with Risk Management and Compliance and Audit partners, as appropriate, to communicate control results.

Skills and Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or advanced degree, or equivalent work experience

  • Typically, more than 12 years of applicable experience

  • Depth of knowledge and experience understanding Treasury risks, relevant regulatory requirements, governance practices and appropriate control structures at a large bank

  • Considerable understanding of regulations, financial services, and regulatory trends that impact financial risks

  • Considerable understanding of the financial risk management, and associated risks/controls

  • Thorough knowledge of Risk/Compliance/Audit competencies

  • Strong leadership and management skills of processes, projects, and people

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and negotiation skills

  • Applicable professional certifications preferred

The salary range reflects figures based on the primary location, which is listed first. The actual range for the role may differ based on the location of the role. In addition to salary, U.S. Bank offers a comprehensive benefits package, including incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase 401(k) contribution and pension (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). Pay Range: $139,740.00 - $164,400.00 - $180,840.00
