U.S. Bank Principal Analyst: CCB Advanced Analytics & Business Solutions - Minneapolis, MN, Atlanta, GA or Telecommute in MINNEAPOLIS, Minnesota

The Corporate and Commercial Banking (CCB) group at U.S. Bank manages about $150 Billion in loan portfolios for its large B2B clients. The CCB group works with multiple product groups such as Treasury Management, Deposits, Commercial Real Estate, Fixed Income & Capital Markets and specialized finance groups to anticipate, fulfill financial needs and build financial confidence through strategic consulting.

We are looking for a top-notch principal analyst to provide analytics support to our CCB group with a hungry, curious and do-whatever-it-takes attitude. Our principal analyst is an expert professional who works independently and can also manage or coach other professionals.

This position is responsible for drawing solutions from multiple domains and weaponizing data.

Responsibilities include working on big data/analytics projects that gather and integrate large volumes of data, performs analysis, interprets results and develops actionable insights and recommendations for use across the company. This includes data mining, data auditing, aggregation, validation and reconciliation.

The candidate would have a working knowledge of analytics and statistical software such as SQL, R, Python, Excel, Hadoop, SAS, SPSS, Geo-spatial tools and others to perform analysis, interpret data and build advanced analytic solutions.

This position typically requires an individual with a quantitative degree and 8 or more years of statistics or analytics experience.

Your day to day:

You will spend about 50% of your time advancing the development of metrics, reports and analysis into integrated dashboards that support field-based relationship managers and product leaders in CCB. Through the deep understanding of your users and the data, you will consult on statistical analysis performed by your Data Science peers as well as contribute to measuring the key business outcomes as new analytic products are tested with the relationship manager and leadership team in CCB. You get to work with leading ML and AI tools – both on-prem and cloud. This role will also play an active role with data engineers, Salesforce experts, and business line product owners in the business line ensuring the critical data is available and reliable in the proper platforms with clear SLAs.

Key Deliverables:

-Engage with CCB stakeholders, challenge assumptions and build industry leading analytical solutions

-Quickly learn complex B2B banking dynamics and design data-driven solutions that create competitive differentiation.

-Delivery of advanced analytic solutions via modern BI tools that prioritizes potential new leads to improve prospecting, data for deepening engagement within our existing client set, and reducing the risk of attrition.

-Enable a data foundation that includes advanced analytic solutions for RM’s that allows them to find, track and discover opportunities.

-Exploring statistical analysis that could be applied to the data; Performing descriptive statistics, exploring datasets, building visualizations iteratively to explore and understand the data

-Do exploratory analysis and design ML/AI solutions working closely with data science support team

-Documenting calculations, code, and adhering to data management principles

-Validating and testing data assets of others in the form of peer review

-Identify and lead the remediation of key data quality issues impacting Salesforce and our ability to deliver

-Participate in the build out of the analytics delivery, reporting and technology infrastructure required to support the delivery of insights and reporting.

-Researches data assets from multiple disparate sources, applies various technologies find and move data assets for analysis, development of metrics, reports, and statistics.

-Play an active role with IT engineers to ensure critical data is available, with quality in the proper platforms with clear SLAs.


Basic Qualifications

-Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field such as econometrics, computer science, engineering, or applied mathematics, or equivalent work experience.

-Eight or more years of statistics or analytics experience

Preferred Qualifications

-Masters in a quantitative field such as econometrics, computer science, engineering, or applied mathematics, preferred

-Experience with programming languages such as SQL, R, Python

-Financial services experience and/or progress towards certifications like CFA/FRM will be a plus.

-3 plus years relevant experience in analysis, reporting and data visualization

-Experience with at least 1 modern visualization tool (ex. PowerBI, Tableau, Domo)

-Experience leveraging tools for basic last mile ETL and data wrangling

-Basic knowledge of data quality

-Extensive experience with standard relational databases (Teradata, DB2, Postgres)

-Working knowledge of Hadoop (HDFS) with ability to query Hive; exposure to Druid a plus

-Experience with GitHub a plus

-Strong communication skills to support business consulting and collaboration with business partners

-Strong problem solving and analytical skills

-Experience working in an agile environment preferred
