U.S. Bank Corporate Tax Director in MINNEAPOLIS, Minnesota

The Director, Corporate Tax is responsible for the development and execution of income tax planning strategies for the organization, across all banners. Oversees the federal, state and local, and international tax compliance functions, calculations and filings, as well as domestic income tax accounting and related functions. Position will have overall accountability of income tax staff to ensure all filings are completed timely and support the accounting for the income tax provision in accordance with the organization’s tax strategy. An added focus will be to meet required compliance requirements while streamlining process to add value in planning and other areas including insourcing other tax functions. Provides guidance to finance leaders to manage risk and support growth.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree or equivalent work experience business or related disciplines

  • Minimum 10 years experience in related fieldtax experience, preferably including significant experience at a large multi-national corporation

  • Graduate degree (MBA, MS, or JD) strongly preferred

  • Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Access, and Gmail

  • Strong technical (tax and accounting), people management, project management, and communication skills

  • Capable of effectively leading meetings at the officer level without more senior tax department representation, providing tax thought leadership.

  • Comprehensive understanding of impact of tax decisions on organization.

  • Primary leader of tax processes (and tax strategies to the extent relevant) from development through implementation.

  • Must have a current understanding of accounting standards and a deep understanding of the US domestic tax rules and a broad understanding of the US international tax rules, as well as disclosure rules of the Securities and Exchange Commission and other standards setting bodies
