Job Description
This role is responsible for drafting and negotiating agreements for the onboarding of commercial and corporate clients. Work is typically performed independently with minimal guidance but with substantial collaboration with other groups and team members. Ideal candidate has an advanced understanding of applicable laws, regulations, financial services and regulatory trends that impact their assigned business line. Job scope and complexity of assigned business is broad and complex. The role has a good understanding of the business line’s products and operations. Position has the potential to interact and advise Senior and Executive Level Management during the course of negotiations requiring an advanced level of presentation, negotiation and relationship building skills. This position may be primary lead during negotiations, exception/resolution activities or risk analysis, including providing guidance and recommendations.
Tasks:
For RFPs, consolidate the legal redlines from corporate legal and ERRM to denote areas of concern/issues that need to be document in our proposal response.
Track those issues and insurance redlines so they do not have to be redone at time of contract award.
Upon contract award, work with the sales lead to define the contract document to use as the initial starting point for the contract.
Act as the project manager for the negotiation process (schedule internal and external meeting to resolve issues, keep the contracting process on track, prepare documentation, gain approvals, etc.)
Maintain a central library for approved contract negotiation deviations.
Route final documents for approval and signature.
Upon receipt of signed contract, create electronic copy for the master file, file the original, sent copy to sales.
Assist in creating the information needed for internal communication (SLAs and information for implementation team and relationship manager, etc.).
This role is hybrid. Team members who are in a hybrid role typically spend three days a week at a U.S. Bank location, while having flexibility on their work location for the other working days.
Basic Qualifications
Law degree/paralegal studies, or equivalent work experience
Two to five years of contract and negotiation experience ideal
Preferred Skills/Experience
Thorough understanding of contract structure and terms required to support the business line and clients
Advanced understanding of applicable laws, regulations, and business line's policies, procedures, products and operations
Advanced understanding of applicable financial services and regulatory trends that impact their assigned business line
Well-developed organizational, problem-solving and analytical skills
Ability to manage multiple tasks, issues and deadlines simultaneously
Excellent negotiation and relationship building skills
Excellent presentation, verbal and written communication skills
