U.S. Bank Assistant General Counsel - Data & Analytics Attorney in MINNEAPOLIS, Minnesota

The U.S. Bank Law Division is seeking an experienced attorney to join the Privacy and Data Strategy team to support the enterprise Data & AnalyticsProgram . This attorney will provide legal support to the Program’s key constituents: Enterprise Strategy & Analytics, Data & AI Technologies, and Enterprise Data Governance. This attorney will provide legal advice on the collection, sharing and use of data in support of the data and analytics platform and capabilities and the use of analytics for customer service, product development, decision making and regulatory reporting. The position offers candidates a career with exposure to a variety of legal issues, while working with various departments and individuals at U.S. Bank to serve as a trusted legal and business advisor.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Guiding the alignment of data,insights and analytics policy and administration with relevant legal,regulatory, industry and ethical guidelines, both domestically andinternationally.

  • Informing the strategy, developmentand use of personal and commercial data and analytics products with sound legalcounsel aligned to the enterprise business strategy.

  • Serving as a trusted advisor toteams using tools and techniques for data analytics, modeling, algorithmdevelopment, machine learning, artificial intelligence, data mining andvisualization for a wide variety of use cases, including support to digitalmarketing initiatives.

  • Supporting the AI Center ofExcellence and promoting the ethical use of data and technology as a partner tothe Global Ethics Office, Enterprise Strategy & Analytics, Enterprise DataGovernance, and the Data & AI Tools Infrastructure Team.

  • Advising on complex data issues associatedwith the procurement of technology and engagement with vendors and partners.

  • Providing legal advice to theenterprise compliance and risk organization on the development and administrationof controls on data quality, governance, interoperability and sources toeffectively manage risk associated with the use of data and analytics.

  • Coordinate with counsel to the ChiefDigital Office and business line counsel on digital platforms, businesscustomer data rights, and cross-business data sharing issues.

Qualifications:

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Lawdegree

  • Licensedin good standing to practice law in at least one jurisdiction

  • Tenor more years of experience as an attorney in a law firm or in-house corporate environment

  • Threeor more years of experience in domestic and international privacy law

  • Threeor more years of management experience PREFERRED EXPERIENCE/SKILLS

  • In-depth knowledge of domestic andinternational privacy and data protection laws and regulations

  • Experience working with dataanalytics, data governance, enterprise architecture and information security teamsto identify and resolve risks associated with the collection, use, sharing, retentionand disposal of data

  • Ability to assess risks and providethoughtful advice in a fast-paced environment

  • Comfort withand interest in working on a variety of legal matters of varying complexity

  • Familiarity with Privacy by Designand related concepts

  • Demonstrated proficiency workingcollaboratively to deliver results

  • Technical fluency in approachingcomplex data infrastructure and systems

  • Strong commercial contracting skills

  • Ability to work with minimalsupervision and exercise independent judgment and discretion

  • Ability to work across business linesat senior levels to influence and effect change to achieve common goals

  • Excellent written, oral andinterpersonal communication skills

  • Strong commitment to client service
