Job Description Operations Software Engineer At Opayo, the Live Services Team use their expert product knowledge to provide technical assistance across the wider business for current and future service and product development, and ensure new and existing product knowledge is sustained and documented. It is essential to work closely with both internal and external Technology departments to ensure Opayo proactively manages change and adheres to any mandatory banking and/or industry compliance rules, as well as being fully prepared to deal reactively with issues that may arise. As an independent payment service provider, Opayo works with a wide range of business partners: from acquiring banks and card schemes, to companies that complement our payment gateway solutions. We’re looking for someone to simplify and automate existing manual processes, eliminate processing errors and reduce operational risk.The Operations Software Engineer is responsible for researching, developing and improving the in-house Operational toolset by automating processes using the latest coding languages and techniques. The role requires ownership of the overall task: from initial design, through to build, implementation and post-release monitoring. The Operations Software Engineer is also required to design, develop and build functional web-based dashboards, to be used by Operations and internal stakeholders. This should include developing transaction statistical toolsets for Operations and key stakeholders.Working closely with our Product Development team, the successful person will be responsible for supporting both current internal applications, but also driving forward development within the Operations team to maximise efficiency and productivity through bespoke toolsets.The candidate must be self-motivated as this will be a hybrid office/WFH role, and will often be working alone.Motivation to look for other areas of improvement within the team / across the wider business, and design cost-effective solutions for existing manual processes which would benefit from automation.We want someone truly extraordinary; someone who is passionate about their work, open to new ideas and focused on delivering consistently high-quality results that enrich our business. For this role we need someone with a mix of skills from the following technical attributes:The Operational Software Engineer should be proficient in new technologies, automation, and client analytics and have the ability to think creatively about automatic solutions from various systems and data sources. Excellent scripting/programming skills (Python, PowerShell, HTML) Working knowledge in supporting and / or developing Windows based web applications (ASP, IIS, Tomcat) Working knowledge of Linux, Apache, source code repositories, continuous integration Experience of developing Open Source monitoring and reporting Working knowledge of database technologies (MS-SQL, T-SQL, MySQL/Postgres) Creating custom reports and reporting dashboards for stakeholders
