Job DescriptionU.S. Bank is seeking a Technology Architect with strategic and influencing experience to contribute toward the success of our technology initiatives. Researches, models, and integrates business and technology architectures to align with business strategy, goals and objectives. Develops enterprise-wide conceptual technology architectures. Creates architectural principles to support business goals. Consults with business line managers and IT professionals to develop IT frameworks that support business applications. Understands and models key business capabilities, processes, relationships, and impact of technology on business goals. Formulates conceptual architectures and communicates architectural vision, goals and design objectives to multiple audiences. Develops technology strategies and roadmaps to deliver strategic business capabilities. Evaluates usefulness and makes recommendations regarding selected technologies. Participates in developing the IT vision and strategy. Consults with IT and business management regarding use of specific technologies and associated services. Identifies risks associated with current or new technology use. Guides/coaches the development teams by : providing high-level architectural guidance; aligning architecture to business requirements; ensuring the implementation of best practices and design patterns and by shaping a strong engineering culture

Works across the organization to foster a culture of architecture that allows for iterative, autonomous development and future scaling. Guides teams in the organization in anticipation of future use cases and helps them make design decisions that minimize the cost of future changes.

Sets the direction of the architectural roadmap. Determines the Return-on-Investment for specific engineering initiatives and determines appropriate levels of investment for given strategic horizons. Establishes engineering strategic objectives that drive architecture and technical approach.

Works to keep skills up-to-date to aid in decision making, coaching and facilitation. Has basic knowledge in a wide variety of technologies and skill-sets with deep expertise in a few specific areas.

Ensures expectations across the organization and external stakeholders are clarified between all parties involved. Identifies dependencies across the organization and works with individual teams to resolve them before they become an issue and installs preventative measures to mitigate repeat occurrences.

Works across the organization to foster a culture of priority setting and urgency in alignment with organizational strategy. Coaches the team on making trade-offs, prioritization and managing technical debt. Identifies and manages technical and business risk.

Basic Qualifications Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience

At least 10 years experience with developing and implementing applications.

At least 10 years experience with the concepts, philosophies and tools behind the design of applications, information and underlying information technologies.

Preferred Skills/Experience Thorough understanding of several team's domains and how they contribute to the overall business strategy and alignment to the technical strategy

Experience and successful modernization at large corporations (re-platforming, re-hosting and service enablement)

Demonstrable experience designing patterns for moving from legacy environments to cloud and influence strategic direction

Possesses expertise in performance, scalability, enterprise system architecture, and engineering best practices in an agile environment

Strong problem-solving and analytical skills

Excellent communication, presentation, and leadership skills

Proven collaboration and influencing skills

Experience in Payment services or financial services domains is a big plus.
