U.S. Bank is seeking an accomplished Software Engineer Manager with experience leading complex projects and teams to contribute toward the success of our technology initiatives. Candidates will provide a combination of technical and business leadership while being the primary trusted and capable owner of one or more high priority, high visibility, complex focused initiatives that typically cross multiple technology and business line areas. Focuses on technological solution delivery by guiding and inspiring strong coding practices and solid software design decisions among their team. Responsible for growing and mentoring engineers as it relates to technical skills and career development. Assists with cross-team strategic efforts, influencing decisions to achieve efficient delivery of business value. Understands cross-team technical roadmaps, advocating new product abilities based on technical strategy and constraints.
Bachelor's degree, or equivalent work experience
8 -10 years of experience with developing, architecting, and implementing applications
Five or more years of leading a software engineering team
Complete understanding of the team's domain and drives the team's objectives and deliverables
Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of business strategy and how the technical and engineering strategy aligns to this
Advanced knowledge of information systems technology and software development processes and tools, especially industry specific applications
Strong analytical, product management, tactical planning and leadership skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to communicate with all parties involved in the product team (engineers, product owner, scrum master, third party vendors, customers, etc.)
Demonstrated management, leadership and interpersonal skills
Cloud native application development experience with containerization, orchestration and service mesh (Docker/Kubernetes/ISTIO)and public cloud experience
8+ years of progressive responsibilities in one or more of the following areas: API development and delivery, application design, Expertise in Java/Java EE and web-based applications and services.
5+ years of experience/expertise in highly scalable and available critical enterprise Java applications using Spring core, Spring MVC, Spring Boot Frameworks, GraphQL, Java EE Design Patterns, Kafka, Webservices, relational database, NoSQL cloud supported databases (Cassandra DB is preferred).
Experience with Design & Implementation of Microservices architecture patterns and Domain Driven Design.
Experience working in a DevOps environment in an on-prem or public cloud environment (Git/GitHub, CI/CD Pipelines, Kubernetes, Docker, Rancher,AWS, GCP)
experience in working in a Cloud and DevOps environment.
Experience with security, logging, monitoring best practices
