U.S. Bank Appraisal Compliance Analyst in HOPKINS, Minnesota

This position maintains high degree of knowledge regarding appraiser laws and regulations. Assists with investigating complaints against appraisers to ensure compliance with the regulations regarding mandatory reporting and provides the bank with a well-documented complaint investigation and referral process. Will be actively involved with the monthly exclusionary committee meetings to communicate appraiser referral recommendations. The position will also assist in monitoring the appraiser independence hotline to ensure compliance with the appraisal independence regulations as well as assist in maintenance of the U.S. Bank watch list and exclusionary report including communication of the lists to internal business lines.

Regulatory Referral/Mandatory Reporting

  • Investigate complaints against appraisers in regard to violations of USPAP, state laws or unprofessional behavior.

  • Communicate with appraisers regarding complaint process and final disposition of complaint investigations/exclusionary committee decisions.

  • Communicate investigative findings with exclusionary committee as required.

  • Submit appraiser referral documentation to state regulatory authorities.

  • Assist in acting as a liaison between state agencies and U.S. Bank in regard to mandatory reporting.

  • Maintains knowledge of federal and state regulatory appraiser and appraisal guidelines.

Appraiser Independence Hotline

  • Assist in monitoring of the appraiser independence and complaint hotline.

  • Investigate and compile documentation on complaints.

  • Carry-out appropriate actions for issue resolution.

  • Report findings and actions to internal business lines

Exclusionary Report

  • Assist with maintenance and monitoring of the bank wide watch list and exclusionary report.

  • Review documentation for removal from watch list and exclusionary list.

  • Communicate actions to appraisers and business lines.

Position Requirements

  • Individual must be a licensed appraiser and have the ability to understand appraisal methodology, guidelines and regulations.

  • Individual must be familiar with the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP) and the appraisal regulatory process.

  • Must have good understanding of procedural process and due diligence.

  • Ability to understand and interpret laws, guidelines, and regulations.

  • Strong interpersonal skills, good written and oral communication ability.

  • Very detail and process oriented.


Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree, or equivalent work experience

  • Three to five years of applicable experience

Preferred Skills/Experience

  • Appraisal License Required

  • Thorough knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, financial services, and regulatory trends that impact their assigned line of business

  • Thorough understanding of the business line’s operations, products/services, systems, and associated risks/controls

  • Thorough knowledge of Risk/Compliance/Audit competencies

  • Strong process facilitation, project management, and analytical skills

  • Must possess business acumen and credibility to help business line(s) proactively identify and address changing workforce needs

  • Excellent presentation, interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills

  • Proficient computer navigation skills using a variety of software packages, including Microsoft Office applications and word processing, spreadsheets, databases, and presentations

  • Applicable professional certifications preferred
