U.S. Bank Fraud Investigator in FARGO, North Dakota

Works directly with customers, systems and merchants to investigate fraudulent or unauthorized activities on credit and debit card accounts. Conducts both high level and detailed review of fraudulent activity. Identifies and documents trends and provides them to leadership for prevention of future occurrences. May conduct telephone interviews of cardholders to successfully resolve cases. Communicate directly with the case processor assigned to the fraud case to ensure clear and timely direction is provided on acceptance or denial of claim.

Responsibilities include:

  • Conducting investigations pertaining toknown or suspected fraud on credit, and debit card accounts for bothbusiness and consumers

  • Identifying the individualsresponsible for the loss

  • Minimizing and/or recovering losses for thebank

  • Assisting customers who have been victimsof fraud

  • Documenting all investigations thoroughly


Basic Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Three or more years of related work experience, or a relevant combination of education, training, and experience

Preferred Skills/Experience

  • Well-developed research and analytical abilities

  • Good knowledge of operational functions, systems, policies and procedures for the assigned area

  • Ability to competently work with various forms of technology, including transactions processing systems, risk management platforms, case management applications, research or analytical tools

  • Proficient computer navigation skills using a variety of software packages including Microsoft Office applications

  • Ability to follow defined procedures, policies and precedents

  • Ability to interpret technical and administrative instructions to answer recurring questions and use as a guide in solving similar problems or situations

  • Ability to identify and resolve/escalate complex problems with minimal guidance

  • Must be able to perform assigned work in a deadline sensitive environment

  • Competent clerical skills and strong attention to detail is necessary for all roles

  • For team lead roles, prior process management or supervisorial experience is preferred
