Job Description

This is a Full Time Role for a Data Governance Lead. Reporting to the Chief Data Officer, the successful candidate’s responsibilities will include supporting design, build and implementation of Data Governance risk program within the Bank; partnering with the Bank’s business lines to promote effective governance of data, data sources, reporting processes and controls.

Key working relationships

The candidate would be required to build and maintain effective relationships across the Bank and its parent Group, including executive management, business line leadership, the broader Data Governance teams, corporate function staff, as well as key risk personnel in Elavon and US Bank with exposure to a variety of different risk programs and activities.

Principal accountabilities of Position

The role holder will have the following specific responsibilities:

  • Management and oversight of the Data Governance team’s Data Quality Program incorporating:

  • Identification key business data and reporting fields, particularly focused on the bank’s highest risk reporting.

  • Identification and mapping of the critical data at source feeding the bank’s key business data and reporting fields used in the supporting processes

  • Documentation of data definitions and metadata for critical data used in reporting processes and related data fields by engaging with cross-functional representatives from the business

  • Definition and development of Data Quality Rules to validate the quality of critical data at source, with reporting of findings and defects requiring remediation

  • Supporting the capture and documentation of data lineage efforts for agreed critical data elements

  • Evaluation of business changes including strategic projects to identify and surface data risks with a reporting and quality management lens.

  • Reporting to different key data governance forums, including reporting to Group, on outputs from Data Governance activities.

  • Development of procedures and controls to ensure comprehensive implementation of the Bank’s Data Governance Policy and Program.

  • Management and maintenance of various inventories, records and repositories based on completed activities, insights from data quality analysis and evidence requirements supporting procedures and controls.

  • Facilitate regulatory or internal audit driven reviews as necessary.

  • Support the Chief Data Officer in execution of key risk management and administrative requirements supporting various risk programs and internal requirements.

Skills and competencies required include:

  • Comfortable working as a self-starter and in a project management team or lead role.

  • Ability to engage and manage stakeholder relationships and expectations.

  • Ability to demonstrate sound communication, negotiating and influencing skills.

  • Ability to think and act independently.

  • Ability to consume a mix of complex manual and automated (technical) procedures, understand processes and related documentation and produce useful visual flows and insights.

  • Competent in working with data, performing data profiling and analysis in various toolkits with the ability to efficiently produce documentation and views on how data is flowing through technical and manual processes.

  • Demonstrated management, leadership and interpersonal skills.

  • Demonstrated analytical, project management and tactical planning skills.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills including production of presentation materials for management and committee consumption.

  • Experience managing direct and indirect reports and influencing change.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree, or equivalent academic qualifications or work experience in risk management, computer science, information management or related disciplines.

Experience

Preferred experience includes:

  • Minimum 5 or more years of related experience in Data Governance, Information Management or a suitable related discipline, with experience in strategy integration, planning, and policy implementation.

  • Familiarity with risk management and applicable laws, regulations in financial services and regulatory trends, particularly in the areas of Data Governance, ICT and Risk Management.

  • Experience and understanding of requirements from BCBS 239 or similar Data Management or Data Quality regulation across industries.

  • Minimum 7 years’ relevant experience, preferably with Financial Services or Payments exposure
