Job Description

U.S. Bank is seeking an Engineer who will contribute toward the success of our technology initiatives in our digital transformation journey.

Responsibilities (8+ years):

  • Lead cross-departmental teams of engineers to modernize and transform our internal technology products.

  • Mentor teams on cloud readiness, infrastructure as code, configuration as code, agile methodology, and DevOps culture.

  • Lead the design and build of solutions with an engineering mindset to improve observability, resiliency, performance, and scalability.

  • Influence and align teams across the organization to new ideas and efforts.

  • Lead troubleshooting of both isolated and systemic issues.

Required Skills (advanced experience):

  • Leadership and communication (presenting, negotiating, problem solving, motivating)

  • Platform architecture (diagrams, systems design, interfaces)

  • Pipeline tooling (Jenkins, Gitlab CI, GitHub Actions, or Azure DevOps)

  • Linux administration (bash, RedHat)

  • Software engineering (Python, Go, JavaScript, Java, C#, etc.)

  • Provisioning and managing cloud infrastructure using IaC (Terraform, CloudFormation, ARM Templates, or CDK)

  • Configuration management as code (SaltStack, Ansible, Puppet, or Chef)

  • Public cloud (Azure, AWS, GCP)

  • Container platforms (Kubernetes, Docker Swarm, Rancher, ECS, EKS, AKS)

  • Testing (unit, functional, end-to-end)

Preferred Skills (working knowledge)

  • Microservices architecture

  • Database design and engineering

  • Product design and management

  • Technical writing

  • Network architecture

  • Working in a regulated industry

The role offers a hybrid/flexible schedule, which means there's an in-office expectation of 3 or more days per week and the flexibility to work outside the office location for the other days.

The salary range reflects figures based on the primary location, which is listed first. The actual range for the role may differ based on the location of the role. In addition to salary, U.S. Bank offers a comprehensive benefits package, including incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase 401(k) contribution and pension (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). Pay Range: $145,180.00 - $170,800.00 - $187,880.00
