The U.S. Bank Innovation Product Development Team is currently seeking an Innovation Product Manager to support strategic assessments of emerging technologies and to develop potential product and service offerings. The incumbent will assist senior management in evaluating and nurturing product and service opportunities and in doing so will work with a variety of business partners within and outside the bank to identify, define, and cultivate opportunities to meet customer needs.

The U.S. Bank Innovation Product Development Team seeks a self-starter, self-learner, cultural and technology sponge interested in absorbing all that is happening within and outside the bank and transforming that information into insights and ideas for new product and service offerings. You’ll need the ability to ideate as well as execute.

Job activities will include (but not limited to):

  • Works with team members to develop opportunities for innovation for financial products and services and creates / defines strategies that provide a competitive advantage.

  • Supports teams as a subject matter expert with idea discovery through independent research, business line discussion, customer interviews, customer journey mapping, lean startup or other methodologies;

  • Supports teams to move concepts into experimentation implementation through various product and testing phases (exploration, proof of value, proof of technology, pilot, and commercialization);

  • Provides leadership in business model thinking and prototyping to bridge the design to business gap, including projecting financials, defining KPIs, etc.

  • Must have strong experience with quantitative methodologies for demonstrating new concept value propositions, benefits, pricing and positioning.

  • Help teams structure project readout for completed initiatives summarizing learnings, next steps and recommendations.

  • Supports development of business cases for mature concepts and partners with business lines for commercialization planning of projects deemed successful.

  • Maintains current technology and business knowledge around financial services industry.

  • Strategic Thinking: Ability to juggle multiple goals and deadlines in the context of the big picture.

  • Team Leadership & Development: Ability to mentor, coach and effectively transfer expertise to others.

  • Facilitation, Negotiation & Problem Resolution Skills: Ability to build a strong network and relationships at executive levels with technology and solutions, customers and vendor groups.

  • Resilience and resourcefulness.

  • Ability to manage cross functional stakeholders.

This role is hybrid. Team members who are in a hybrid role typically spend three days a week at a U.S. Bank location, while having flexibility on their work location for the other working days.

Preferred Skills/Experience

  • Bachelor's degree, or equivalent work experience

  • Five to eight years of related work experience

  • Ability to work cross-functionally

  • Good interpersonal skills

  • Willingness to learn and adapt

  • General knowledge of the bank’s business lines coupled with the ability to not think like a banker

  • Strong product development, product management, product marketing, or design skills

  • A basic appreciation for different product development methodologies, including Lean Start-up, Stage-Gate, and Agile

  • Demonstrated track record of project execution/implementation

  • Demonstrated research and investigative skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • You don’t need to be a programmer, but technical and computer skills could be helpful

  • Strong competitive and financial analysis skills

  • Willingness to challenge the status quo

The salary range reflects figures based on the primary location, which is listed first. The actual range for the role may differ based on the location of the role. In addition to salary, US Bank offers a comprehensive benefits package, including incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase 401k contribution and pension (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). Pay Range: $112,880.00 - $132,800.00 - $146,080.00
