Job Description
The Principal Systems Engineer will ensure best in class performance & availability for business capabilities and growth through IT Service Management. The scope will include solving operational issues for all Jamf Pro managed devices and macOS related services to support all clients and service levels while following all ITSM best practices. This requires excellent communication skills to work across teams to solve daily operational incidents and to coordinate Endpoint management activities. The successful candidate will manage conflicts and escalation to achieve results, while maintaining excellent working relationships across the teams. The successful candidate will also possess analytical and problem-solving skills.
Responsibilities include:
Implementation, maintenance, administration, and configuration of the enterprise Jamf Pro environment
Developing and maintaining Mac deployment automation architecture, design/migration, and troubleshooting
Packaging of macOS applications to be distribute using Jamf Pro
A working knowledge of integrating Mac systems into a primarily Windows and Active Directory Domain environment.
End-user facing expertise in providing support for Apple hardware and software issues within end-user computer systems
Engaging Managed Service organizations to address quality JAMF policies and configuration and process concern.
Contribute to development and ongoing improvement of industry best practices and standards for deploying enterprise Mac technologies
Investigate, analyze and resolve technical issues and actively pursue mechanisms for preventing, or automating the response to reoccurrences
Participate within the Agile Sprints in the Product Management and Engineering organization to ensure quality execution of all OS related changes that will affect the operations and support organization.
Develop Knowledge Base articles related to macOS and Jamf Pro
Engage and ensure any security changes or initiatives that might have Jamf related impacts are evaluated and reviewed.
Engage in any changes with vendors to streamline Jamf related processes
Basic Qualifications
Associate's degree or equivalent work experience
At least 7 years of experience within a general information technology (IT) environment
At least 7 years of experience with the design, development and support of technology infrastructure
Preferred Skills/Experience
3-5 years of prior experience supporting and managing Mac’s in an enterprise environment using Jamf Pro or other MDM.
Jamf 200 or 300 Certification
Familiarity with all recent releases of macOS (High Sierra, Mojave, Catalina, Big Sur). (features, patching, upgrades etc.)
In depth knowledge and expertise using and managing Jamf Pro server policies and config profiles.
Familiarity with various tools to assist in the deconstruction and rebuilding of installer packages
Scripting language knowledge in Bash or Python
An in-depth understanding of the macOS provisioning process using Automated Enrollment/DEP
In-depth knowledge of FileVault and secure token workflows.
Experience in working with third-party engineering level support (Apple, JAMF, various security vendors)
The ability to clearly communicate to both team members and the end user community.
Desired Skills / Experience:
Jamf 400 or CCE Certification
Comfortable working within a managed Change process environment
Familiarity with integration of Apple devices (Mac laptop, desktop, iOS mobile devices)
Install, configure and maintain Acronis Connect on Windows Servers
