Job Description

This role has multiple levels, open to candidates with a minimum, of 5 years of experience in corporate/commercial banking. The successful candidate will be hired for the level of the position that aligns with their experience.

The U.S. Bank Power & Utilities Division is looking for an experienced individual to support corporate coverage of our Independent Power Producers (“IPP”) clients.

This client-oriented individual will provide relationship management support including origination, execution and general client account management. This individual will work directly with senior IPP relationship manager(s), portfolio management and product partners on related credit and product opportunities, industry research and various financial modeling functions. In collaboration with other Institutional Client Group Banking Divisions and USB Impact Finance, the individual will support overall relationship management functions related to IPPs, Financial Sponsors, Infrastructure Funds and other development and/or operating companies whose primary business is concentrated in the renewables and thermal electricity generation, energy storage and electricity transmission business.

The individual will support the management of a complex portfolio that will include a mixture of non-recourse and corporate credit facilities. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, in collaboration with portfolio management and product partners, preparation of pre-screen memos, transaction execution including reviewing and/or negotiating financing documentation and assisting with financial and technical due diligence and oversight of financial modeling functions. Additionally, the individual will support the management of loan and portfolio credit quality, interface with customers and other financial institutions, work directly with senior Relationship Manager(s) to prospect and develop customer relationships, and prepare and participate in industry and related research projects.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree, or equivalent work experience

  • Typically, five or more years of corporate/commercial banking experience

Preferred Skills/Experience

  • 5+ years of relevant experience in corporate banking and/or project finance experience within the U.S. power and infrastructure industries

  • Well-developed analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Strong knowledge of U.S. IPP and Project Finance market including familiarity with corporate level and non-recourse project level financing structures and related debt and capital markets products frequently used by IPPs in the U.S.

  • Broad knowledge of U.S. power and energy markets including regulatory environments, the various types of revenues streams earned by to power and transmission projects

  • Financial modeling capabilities in order to provide guidance to Portfolio Management team when developing / auditing debt sizing and financial projection models

  • Considerable knowledge of credit characteristics and drivers of credit quality related to IPPs and their development and operating company / project subsidiaries

  • The ability to pass required FINRA licensing exams and maintain those licenses

  • Knowledge of bank products and services

  • Ability to work in fast-paced environment with multiple competing priorities which involves managing multiple projects simultaneously and meeting strict deadline

  • Ability to work effectively with individuals and groups in managing customer relationships

  • Effective presentation, verbal and written communication skills

The role offers a hybrid/flexible schedule, which means there's an in-office expectation of 3 or more days per week and the flexibility to work outside the office location for the other days.

The salary range reflects figures based on the primary location, which is listed first. The actual range for the role may differ based on the location of the role. In addition to salary, U.S. Bank offers a comprehensive benefits package, including incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase 401(k) contribution and pension (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). Pay Range: $114,325.00 - $134,500.00 - $147,950.00
