Job Description
This role has flexibility to be either a Business Development Associate or Senior Business Development Associate. We will align candidate skills and experience with the corresponding role. Minimum qualifications would be six or more years of experience in financial services or environmental finance or MBA/JD with three or more years of directly related experience.
The Syndications Business Development Associate (BDA) for Renewable Energy Tax Credits (RETCs) will be responsible for supporting the RETC Business Development Officers (BDOs) in securing commitments from new and existing investors to invest in renewable energy tax equity investments and/or credits from U.S. Bancorp Impact Finance (USBIF). The BDA will help manage key internal and external relationships and communication, including the preparation of detailed fund and investor marketing materials and pipelines. The BDA will communicate regularly with U.S. Bank Lines of Business and external consultants to identify potential investor prospects for the BDOs to pursue. The BDA will coordinate with teams across the USBIF Syndication platform to ensure efficient collaboration and servicing of investor needs. The BDA will also work with USBIF accounting, compliance and internal and external legal on potential new structures, tax credit types/technologies and products, including tax credit transferability. This role requires a solid understanding of the RETC and tax credit transfer program, excellent customer relationship skills, strong collaboration with the RETC origination team and effective communication to manage important internal and external relationships.
Summary of Essential Job Functions
A successful candidate for the BDA position will demonstrate the ability or potential to:
Assist in managing communication with new and existing investors that result in secured RETC equity commitments, including preparation of marketing materials and pipelines that detail investment structure and financial benefits
Support BDOs by coordinating with tax, accounting, and other internal functions on new structures, tax credit types/technologies and product opportunities, including tax credit transferability
Serve as lead coordinator and liaison for tax insurance underwriting, due diligence and closing executions with third party brokers and insurance providers
Communicate with U.S. Bank relationship managers and external consultants on prospective investor opportunities; perform follow up investor due diligence as required
Research and propose expanded avenues for investor outreach and marketing
Collaborate effectively with teams across Syndication platform, RETC Production, Asset Management and other groups throughout USBIF
Assist Syndications project management and fund management teams in closing RETC investment and managing post-close activities as needed
Engage in moderate travel to meet with investors and attend industry conferences and trainings
Basic Qualifications
- Typically Bachelor's degree and six or more years of related experience or MBA/JD with three or more years of directly related experience in financial services and/or environmental finance
Preferred Skills/Experience
One year of USBIF experience, or comparable work experience
Self-starter with positive attitude and ability to work in fast paced environment with minimal direction
Excellent communication, customer relationship, organization and collaboration skills
Solid understanding of environmental finance and/or RETC transactions including tax credit transferability
Proficient understanding and communicating of financial models based on IRR and XIRR
Strong technical skills including financial modeling via MS Excel, presentation development via MS PowerPoint, email communication via MS Outlook, documentation creation and review via MS Word and Salesforce CRM management

The salary range reflects figures based on the primary location, which is listed first. The actual range for the role may differ based on the location of the role. In addition to salary, U.S. Bank offers a comprehensive benefits package, including incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase 401(k) contribution and pension (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). Pay Range: $108,375.00 - $127,500.00 - $140,250.00
