We have an exciting opportunity to lead U.S. Bank’s Economist group function. This highly visible role will give someone the opportunity to be a key influential leader to our senior executives as well as be the economic intellectual to all aspects of economics at one of the world’s leading financial institutions.
The role is one of player/coach, and this leader will be responsible for building and leading the Economic Research team as well as managing the Economic Scenarios & Analytics team. This leader will be the principal spokesperson on all economic issues for U.S. Bank’s internal businesses. The audience for our economic research product is our internal business lines and support functions. However, there will be opportunity to occasionally speak externally to the press/media.

The Head of Economic Analysis will have primary responsibility for the development, coordination and production of economic analysis. They will partner with key businesses such as Treasury, Capital Markets, Wealth Management & Investment Services, and Corporate & Commercial Banking to provide vital economic insight. The position will be a challenging, high profile role that will require in-depth knowledge of economic and financial trends Reporting to the Head of Economic Analysis will be our Economic Research group as well as our Economics Scenarios & Analytics Group. This leader will report to the EVP, Director of Investor Relations and Economic Analysis for U.S. Bank.
Master's degree in economics, MBA in Finance, or Bachelors’ degree and relevant work experience
10+ years economist experience at a major financial, public or international institution
Strong demonstrated economic research skills
Strong demonstrated written skills
Strong demonstrated public speaking experience
Strong knowledge of financial markets, CCAR, stress testing and CECL accounting
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with colleagues at all levels
Demonstrated managerial skills
High level of integrity and discretion
· Background in interest rate strategy
· Experience working in an economics function at a large commercial bank
· Experience building out and managing a team
· Experience in applied econometrics and advanced forecasting tools
· Record of publishing economic analysis and reports
