Job DescriptionDescription U.S. Bank is seeking a Sr Economist to be part of the Economic Research Team! This group is responsible for conducting proprietary economic research to inform the bank’s commercial and strategic decisions with a focus on uncovering risks and opportunities.

The team establishes the Bank’s view of current economic conditions, constructs forecasts and risk assessments, and produces data tools, commentary, and presentations. We support U.S. Bank Executive and Senior Level Management, Business Lines, and external clients.

Responsibilities Formulate independent, research-based economic analysis and commentary.

Coverage includes industry sectors, U.S. households / consumers, regional economies, , international trade, and major foreign economies.

Monitor developments in financial markets (interest rates, credit, and foreign exchange), fiscal and monetary policy, and the banking sector

Contribute to U.S. Bank’s macro-economic view, developing economic and interest rate forecasts

Provide customized macro support to U.S. Bank business lines and clients.

Design, enhance, and maintain processes used to create and distribute economic research.

Build and maintain relationships with internal stakeholders and users of economic research.

Basic Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field such as econometrics, computer science, engineering or applied mathematics, or equivalent work experience - Eight or more years of statistics or analytics experience

Preferred Skills/Experience PhD or Master's degree in economics, finance, or related quantitative discipline; Bachelors' degree and relevant work experience

5+ years economist experience at a major financial, public or international institution

Advanced blend of applied economic and financial market research skills and knowledge

Strong knowledge of financial markets, interest rate strategy

Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with colleagues at all levels

Ability to work well in a high paced team-oriented environment

Ability to manage multiple projects and shifting priorities in order to meet deadlines

Excellent communication and presentation skills, with an emphasis on informing others, asking intelligent questions and challenging the status quo

Strong demonstrated written skills

Excellent project management, organizational, and analytical and problem-solving skills

Experience with large and complex data sets

Experience with complex functions and Excel macros and/or VBA
