Job Description
Responsibilities and deliverables for role:
Mainframe Network System programmer responsible for configuration, tuning, and troubleshooting of VTAM and TCPIP .
Maintain and support TPX session manager environment .
Responsibilities also include installation and support of Connect:Direct .
Ability to set up and troubleshoot native file transfer products such as FTP , SFTP .
Serve in an on-call rotation with the rest of the team members that will require working on some weekends during maintenance change windows.
Participate in the support and implementation of zSeries Communication Server ( VTAM and TCPIP ).
Become involved with IP address design and integrate the zSeries mainframe with multiple platforms.
Participate in the support and implementation of individual software products used for printing and file transfer.
Follow standardized guidelines and procedures, as well as help improve on these guidelines as to simplify their future functionality.
Basic Qualifications:
Minimal 3 -5 years experience configuring and troubleshooting zSeries Communication Services VTAM , TCPIP , TN3270 .
3 – 5 years of TPX administrator experience .
3 - 5 years of experience serving in a mainframe tech support role , preferably as a mainframe network tech support person.
Experience with network monitoring and troubleshooting mainframe network problems using multiple communications protocols.
Good verbal and written communication skills.
Desired requirements:
Familiarity with Connect:Direct
TPX administrator experience .
Experience with FTP-ATTLS ( FTP using application transparent TLS )
Experience using SMPE to install software products.
Data networks

Configuration management
Subject matter expert in:
Network operations
Contingency and disaster recovery
Product and vendor evaluation
Network architecture
