Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead software architecture design for complex distributed systems and applications

  • Partner with senior members of the team to drive technical strategy and vision

  • Effectively communicate and collaborate across functions and across groups to influence the strategic direction to deliver improvements in the technology stack as well as customer experience

  • Provide thoughtful technical leadership to solve complex problems

  • Be a multiplier to drive high standards of engineering and operational excellence and best practices

  • Provide mentorship and help foster a positive, collaborative, and empathetic culture that empowers team members to grow and succeed

  • Operate in a rapidly evolving environment and be able to quickly adapt and prioritize as needed

  • Be a business-minded and product-oriented technical leader and maintain focus on delivering outstanding customer experiences

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Engineering or equivalent

  • 8+ years of software development and design experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • MS degree in Computer Science or Engineering or equivalent years of work experience

  • 12+ years of software development and design experience

  • Ideal candidate will be a strong principal engineer with breadth of experience in evolving architecture and designing web solutions at scale

  • Proven track record of delivering highly scalable, reliable, and secure distributed systems

  • Skilled in designing modern event driven architecture into the product and driving for the highest standards

  • Technical experience designing and implementing SaaS products at scale with an emphasis on pragmatic choices around maintainability, scalability and reliability and a track record of building technical alignments across multiple teams

  • Experience mentoring and coaching senior and junior engineers to maximize their technical potential

  • Polyglot experience with multiple object oriented programming languages (e.g. Java, Ruby, Go, etc.)

  • Expertise working with large-scale database solutions including relational databases and SQL

  • Knowledge of modern web security features (e.g. authorization, identification, certificates, keychain, SSO, OAuth, SSL, 2FA, OAUTH, CSP, HSTS, SRI, CORS)

  • Knowledge of frontend technologies like Typescript and React

  • Experience building concurrent data streaming and building real-time pub-sub systems (e.g. Apache Kafka, RabbitMQ, SQS/SNS)

  • Experience development and deployment on at least one of the major cloud infrastructure providers (e.g. AWS, GCP, Azure)

  • Clear, concise, and effective verbal and written communicator with ability to explain and evangelize complex ideas clearly across org boundaries

The role offers a hybrid/flexible schedule, which means there's an in-office expectation of 3 or more days per week and the flexibility to work outside the office location for the other days.

The salary range reflects figures based on the primary location, which is listed first. The actual range for the role may differ based on the location of the role. In addition to salary, U.S. Bank offers a comprehensive benefits package, including incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase 401(k) contribution and pension (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). Pay Range: $165,325.00 - $194,500.00 - $213,950.00
