U.S. Bank RCA Manager 3 - Senior Data Protection Governance Manager in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania

U.S. Bank is looking for a Senior Data Protection Governance Manager to support our Enterprise Data Protection Program initiatives focused on managing the data life cycle. This management level role is responsible for influencing and leading data protection, inventory, retention and removal initiatives through collaboration and partnership with technology and with current knowledge of best practices in managing the data life cycle. Expert knowledge of data governance principles, practices and technology solutions are expected. Experience in managing direct and indirect reports is a plus.

US Bank’s Operation risk data protection program implements an institutional set of practices and technology capabilities to ensure we manage our data, including private customer data, to meet regulatory expectations, safeguard the bank’s reputation and provide data as necessary for business needs.

  • Provides subject matter expertise around data protection and data lifecycle management including principles and disciplines for business lines and support functions to follow.

  • In partnership with Enterprise Data Governance and Technology Operations Services to drive and promotes data management architectures and solutions to support data protection risk reduction and legal and regulatory requirements. This includes driving efforts to establish and maintain enterprise solutions for data inventory, retention and removal.

  • Ensures that strong controls are in place for data protection including removal of data that the Enterprise no longer has the right to own, for the business line and for the assigned system of record, provisioning point or business process(s).

  • Manager level position supports the development of capabilities that will improve and sustain the governance, management, protection and value of U.S. Bank’s data assets.

  • Responsible for policy development to enable compliance with regulator expectation as well as enable improved management decision making and achievement of company strategies.

  • Defines approaches and guidance materials around data quality.

  • Performs analysis and collaborates with business lines to help deliver clear guidance on policy requirements to allow for adoption by business lines.

  • Collaborates with IT to help provide requirements for and in selection of the most appropriate data architecture and tooling


Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree, or equivalent work experience

  • Ten or more years of experience in an applicable risk management environment

  • Applicable certifications

Preferred Skills/Experience

  • Expert knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, financial services, and regulatory trends that impact their assigned line of business

  • Expert knowledge of the business line’s operations, products/services, systems, and associated risks/controls

  • Advanced knowledge of Risk/Compliance/Audit competencies

  • Strong leadership and management skills of processes, projects and people

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and negotiation skills

  • Proficient computer skills, especially Microsoft Office applications
