U.S. Bank Sr Application Developer in Dover, Delaware
U.S. Bank is seeking a Sr Application Developer with design and development experience to contribute toward the success of our technology initiatives. The Sr Application Developer manages and plays a key role during the lifecycle of a project by providing technical leadership in the design and implementation of software solutions and ensuring a quality product is delivered. The Sr Application Developer also presents conceptual designs and estimates, and organizes staff planning activities necessary for successful project execution.
Performs and/or leads the technical design and development of complex application systems using existing and emerging technology platforms.
May participate in some application architecture functions.
Estimates and defines time tables and project tasks; analyzes and estimates cost and time.
Leads change impact analysis.
Creates and may review unit and test plans.
Identifies opportunities to improve testing process.
Performs and/or leads design, coding, testing, implementation, and documentation of solution.
Develops basic and detailed program specifications.
Ensures that expected application performance levels are achieved.
Designs, codes, tests, debugs, documents, maintains, and modifies computer programs of high complexity, significance, and risk.
Leads technical staff and clients to investigate, analyze, and resolve complex technical problems.
Identifies and manages interfaces, service levels, standards, and configurations.
Conducts analysis of organizational needs for the development and implementation of application systems.
Monitors operating efficiency of existing application systems.
Proactively identifies opportunities for improvement and recommends technical solutions.
Demonstrates good understanding of the business needs driving the projects.
Project Related Responsibilities:
Review, clarify and approve business requirements
Develop solution conceptual design
Develop and/or oversee development of detailed functional and technical designs
Ensure adherence to process and design standards
Collaborate with project manager on project plans
Prepare database requirements
Oversee coding and unit test activities
Conduct quality reviews
Develop test strategies and plans
Coordinate resolution of technical issues

Bachelor's degree in quantitative area (MIS, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Finance, or other related field) OR equivalent work experience
7 or more years of experience in application development with strong project/team leadership skills
Comprehensive understanding of the data processing environment and its impact on business functions
Detailed knowledge of practices, methodologies, and tools related to the design, development and testing of business applications.
Demonstrated ability to identify solution design alternatives and recommend the best business solution
Demonstrated ability to analyze technical information, evaluate products, services and vendors, and make recommendations
Demonstrated ability to lead a team of technical analysts and developers
Thorough working knowledge of relational database technologies such as DB2.
Thorough working knowledge of mainframe development including both batch and online (CICS) COBOL programming. Also skilled in JCL/Procedures development.
