U.S. Bank AML Quantitative Modeling Analyst in CHARLOTTE, North Carolina
This position will support AML/OFAC statistical analysis and development, tuning and optimization efforts for the Enterprise Financial Crimes Compliance department.
This position will monitor, tune and document behavioral monitoring programs required for high risk products, customers, and transaction channels based on determination by Enterprise Financial Crimes Compliance leadership. Deliverables include the creation of development and/or validation documentation such as: presentations, written reports, process or reporting code documentation, business requirements, monitoring reports and related code, and procedures.
It is expected that this analyst will be highly self-motivated and an effective manager of time. This individual will have proven capabilities in ownership of analytical projects that require communication and coordination with Technology and Operations Services, business line partners, investigations and due diligence resources as well as senior analysts and management. Professional communication skills are crucial, as this individual will represent the Enterprise Financial Crimes Compliance (EFCC) Analytics team to senior leaders, Corporate Audit Services (CAS), and regulatory and business partners.
Serve as a developer responsible for the creation and optimization of AML/OFAC statistical and machine learning monitoring tools in support of financial investigative efforts
Compose responses to internal audit, validation, and outside government agency partners to explain statistical processes supporting AML functions.
Work to thoroughly document statistical and algorithmic efforts to ensure that US Bank meets Federal regulatory expectations and Corporate Model Validation standards
Work to implement new processes or techniques and/or optimize programs to be as efficient as possible while effectively mitigating risk
Demonstrate professional presentation skills for audiences including but not limited to senior leadership, CAS, regulatory and business partners.
Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field, and 10 or more years of experience in machine learning/statistical modeling OR
Master's or PhD degree in a quantitative field, and eight or more years of experience in machine learning/statistical modeling
Extensive understanding of applicable laws, regulations, financial services, and regulatory trends that affect assigned line of business
Strong interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills
Significant development experience using SQL (Oracle preferred) and SAS
Strong statistical modeling background based on technical training or advanced education in a quantitative field with the ability to learn new techniques and theory in a self-directed manner
Strong analytical and research skills, and use of good judgment in decision making and sense of urgency for high priority issues
Considerable knowledge of current machine learning approaches, regression techniques, parametric and non-parametric algorithms, general statistical theory, and various model validation tests/methodologies, using SAS or similar statistical package
Strong data compilation, programming skills and qualitative analysis skills
Strong project management skills
Experience authoring professional documentation and incorporating feedback
Demonstrated independence, team work and leadership skills
Ability to handle multiple priorities and deadlines effectively and efficiently
