U.S. Bank Mainframe Agile Software Developer - Brookfield, WI or Richfield, MN in BROOKFIELD, Wisconsin

The Agile Software Developer will execute true end-to-end development and testing of software products in an agile lifecycle. Partnering with key technical and business stakeholders, the agile developer will help refine the product vision, estimate and design a solution, create, purchase, or customize the requisite hardware and software to create the solution, ensure the quality of the final product through manual and automated tests, and support the new software as it is moved to production. The Agile Software Developer is a generalist that combines aspects of a traditional developer and tester into a single position responsible for the design and release of quality code in short, releasable, and iterative increments. It is critical for this position to have not only the technical skills relative to development and testing, but strong collaboration and communication skills in order to support this entire agile scrum team.


Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related fields, or equivalent work experience

  • At least five years of work experience in Application Development/IT Systems Testing, and team leadership

Required Foundational Skills

• Candidate should have prior work experience using Mainframe COBOL

• A thorough understanding of applicable technology using Mainframe Cobol programming with the ability to analyzes highly complex Cobol Programs for modeling simulation and analysis efforts.

• Experience with Mainframe technologies – COBOL, CICS, DB2, VSAM, SQL, JCL, CA7

• Able to perform analysis, research Cobol coding, automate testing

• Knowledge of tools - Easytrieve

• 2 years in a Java-based Automation Engineer role writing test automation code

• 5 years in a Cobol Developer role writing applications in an IBM MF environment

• Bachelor degree or equivalent experience

• Literate in Java and Cobol with advanced coding and testing experience

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Excellent troubleshooting, analysis and problem-solving skills

• Thrive in an Agile/Scrum environment

• Able to work independently with minimal daily direction

• Able to propose solutions to automation obstacles

• Able to multitask and cope with changing priorities with little notice

• Able to communicate test strategy and status to team members with less technical experience

• Able to deploy test automation integrated with continuous delivery systems

• Able to identify and train others with potential to be Agile Software Developers or Test Architects

• Vocal in giving constructive feedback during team or organizational retrospectives

• Always looking for ways to improve process and quality, able to influence other team members to support a culture of continuous review and improvement

Required Technical Skills

• Setup Eclipse IDE with Java SDK environment

• REST API testing from Java (RestAssured, JAX-RS)

• JSON Objects and Arrays in Java

• Issue tracking using VersionOne, JIRA, or RQM

• TFS, GIT, RTC or similar version control systems

• Experience working on MS Windows enterprise workstations and servers

Desired Skills

• IBM Rational HATS

• IBM Rational Integrated Tester

• IBM Rational Functional Tester

• SoapUI or similar tool for SOAP and REST API manual smoke testing

• Jax-WS for SOAP automated testing

• Easytrieve experience

• DB2 experience

• DevOps experience

• CICD leveraging tools like Jenkins or UCD

• Accessibility testing

• Test SQL databases via ODBC/JDBC
