Elavon’s mobile and global product team is seeking a full-time Software Engineer to help implement the next generation of global mobile payment solutions. We are looking for enthusiastic individuals with a strong academic background and a proven capacity for understanding new technologies to help deliver on our charter of harvesting innovation to better enable and grow small business. The successful candidate will own and account for UI/UX design implementation of mobile software products and experiences developed within the Mobile Commerce Solutions cross-functional team. He/she will collaborate and team to deliver functional, best-in-class, user-focused, competitive, and intuitive user experiences that deliver on customer and business outcomes. Additional responsibilities include:
Designs, builds, and develops custom mobile and server applications to meet business requirements;
Reviews, analyzes, and enhances project planning and supports implementation;
Partners with internal and/or external technical teams regarding technical specifications, design, build, testing, and delivery;
Leads and participates in design, code, and content reviews;
Tests custom and enhanced applications;
Researches and resolves issues;
Provides input, mentors, and consults on content-related projects and development of staff;
Possesses and applies a basic understanding of client's business(es);
Works within a cross-functional team in an Agile/SCRUM development cycle to deliver industry-leading innovations that drive commerce;
Cultivates own understanding of user problems and opportunities for improvement and shares insights; and
Builds efficient and reusable front-end abstractions and systems.
A bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or technology-related field, OR relevant, equivalent experience
Five years of relevant Java/iOS/Android design and development experience, including:
Critical thinking with a good design sense, a strong technical background, and an eye for making things better
Proficiency in Computer Science fundamentals – OO development, data structures, and algorithm - design, problem solving, and complexity analysis
Agile (e.g. SCRUM) software development certifications and/or equivalent experience
Experience using Git or other source code version control systems
Solid knowledge of backend server components, APIs, and performance optimization
Designing/developing mobile and Java server software
Ability to obtain and maintain work authorization in the country of employment (USA)
Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
Leadership, influencing, decision, problem-solving, and strategic management skills to facilitate working in a global, cross-functional team
Ability to work well within a diverse team and a variety of personalities
Limited to moderate travel – 0-15%
Five years of demonstrated global software development experience
Exposure or experience in mobile banking/payment industry
A customer-focus mindset
Basic understanding in:
Application design, architecture
Modeling: data, process, events, objects
Working experience in:
Change control (GIT, SVN, SCM)
IT standards, procedures, policy governance
System development life cycle
Application development tools
Extensive experience in:
Mobile and Java Server design and development
